ABOUT BENENDEN WINERY

Harvesting taking place

Benenden Winery was originally established by Graham Latter as Dingleden Vineyard in 2011. For a number of years the vineyard exclusively supplied its premium Bacchus grapes to a distinguished local winery. Small but mighty, the vineyard averaged 15 tonnes of quality grapes per annum. Then, in 2018 an impressive 31 tonnes was produced, enough for approximately 30,000 bottles!

Never one to rest on his laurels, in 2019 Graham decided to select a small parcel of the vines to produce the vineyard’s own wine. With quality of paramount importance, production was limited to just 1,000 bottles and Benenden Bacchus was born – a limited-edition, premium vintage.

During 2019 the vineyard invested heavily in its on-site facilities. The decision was made to build a contemporary on-site winery. With a maximum capacity of 5,000 bottles, we only produce wine using grapes grown at the vineyard. Quality and continuity are key goals at Benenden Winery, and the small, limited edition vintages produced ensure these goals are consistently met.

Benenden Winery is truly independent. There are no third-party sales targets, so standards are never compromised. If, for any reason, a wine doesn’t meet the superior quality the winery prides itself on, it simply won’t be bottled under the Benenden Winery brand.

Benenden Bacchus

Our limited edition Benenden Bacchus 2024 perfectly showcases our dedication to excellence and has a floral, rose petal nose, while the acidity is crisp and well-balanced. It enjoys hints of lemon peel, nettle and blackcurrant, with a lingering lemongrass finish.

This delightful wine will age elegantly for the next 5 years and is an excellent partner with Kentish Blue and other soft blue English cheeses. It also perfectly complements asparagus, green seasonal salad and fennel.
